Academic sculptor, woodcaver, painter and drawer Zdenek Vodicka was born in 1931 in Prague. He began his tudies also in Praque at the State School of Ceramics and then his studies continued at the Academy of Fine Arts in the years from 1948 to 1954 under the guidance of professors Jan Lauda and Karel Pokorny. After that he joined the Umelecka Beseda Group. He got at monumental sculpture for buildings but he also created many chamber works, for which he has won a number of awards. At the beginning of the 1960´s he was accepted into the RADAR Group, which included famous former members of the group 42 - Frantisek Gross and Frantisek Hudecek. He was working as an educator at Secondary School of Applied Art in Prague where he became a director in 1960´s. His works have appeared in many solo exhibitions and salons in the Czech Republic and abroad and they are included in many public and private collections. He is one of the founding members of artistic group TOLERANCE ´95 and as an active member he takes place all exhibitions with. At present time he prefers to work with stone, wood, metal and from time to time he likes to experimentalize with other interesting materials. Along with sculpture he also devotes himself into drawing as an independent art form. He has developed his own technology - metallography. That´s and attractive combined technique - drawing in metal with galvanic and colour finish.
