Mariam Charibyan was born in 1967 in a small town Artik in Armenia. From the year 1975 she lived in Erevan where she has graduated Basic Art School of Henrik Igityan. Thanks to her talent she could teach younger pupils in her 10th class already. In 1980 she went to the Academy of Arts in Erevan and she continued to be a teacher at basic school. Her and her brother have got their love to painting from mother who was a nurse but painting belonged to her life as a hobby. Mariam studied different art techniques under the guidance of the best Armenian artists who gave their knowledge and experiences to gifted girl free of charge and disinterested. She has found her own expression very soon. Except the soulful themes we could hardly miss the clue of typical Armenian ornamental embroideries in her precize pictures. That´s obvious if we realize that Mariam has been teaching children painting and old embroidering for 12 years at the Etnographical Center. Her life in Erevan was really hard - she survived the terribleness of the most destructional earthquake in 1988, she lost many friends in the fights for Karabach, in the time of catastrophical hunger during the Georgian blockade she delivered her daughter Astine and short after she divorced. In 1995 she was invited by her brother, Hrair Charib, who has been living and working as a successful painter in Prague already, to his first exhibition. Mariam fell in love with Prague and she wished to come back again. She managed and in the same year she returned to prepare here everything for her mother´s and daughter´s move. They have found here their new home. At present time they can speak Czech well.
