Katerina Soukupova was born in 1958 in Prague and she is a daughter of well known sculptor and painter Zdenek Vodicka, whose artworks are also included in HB-Art Gallery. That´s more than logical the daughter has succeeded the artistic talent and is following the footprints of her farther. Yes, that´s right, but she is going her own way. Father works with metal, daughter with silk. After finishing her studies of applied painting in architecture, advertising and scenography at Secondary Art and Craft School, she decided to continue to study Artwork Education at Pedagogy Faculty of Charles University in Prague. During her studies she was interested in painting and graphic mostly in the cultural placards and she managed to take place successfully several exhibitions of young artists. Katerina always liked to experiment with different styles and techniques which finally brought her to the painting on silk which happens to be her main interest now. She is trying to transfer this kind of planispheric art also into the 3D form. She has introduced her works in the shared Atlanta exhibition in 1999, where she drew the attention by her typical colours sensitivity and good knowledge of silky material. She can interest her pedagogic education and love to art in her own Silk Studio, in the courses of silk painting, where she used to give her good advices to the others - mostly women of all generations who appreciate it very much.
