Charismatic painter Jaroslav Svoboda was born in 1922 at Kladno, where he lives together with his wife till today. Mr Svoboda belongs to those artists who are born with a natural capability of painting and there doesn´t exist anything to stop the talent to develop and enforce. Before second world war he managed to start studies at school of Decorative Art which was unfortunately as all other universities closed in the time of occupation in 1939. In spite of this fact Mr. Svoboda continued in painting and attend the private courses under the guidance of professor Vsetecka, who has been a director of Folk School of Art. After the death of professor Vsetecka in 1970, his gifted pupil, J.Svoboda, became his good successor who transferred his legacy enriched by his own to the incoming painters´ generation. His ability to look round, his love to the nature, his master capability to trasfer the nature beauty on canvas and his desire to express his own impression in, brought J.Svoboda mostly to the Czech landscape, in spite of the fact that there are lovely still lifes and typical figural oil paintings inspired by "woman" among his artworks. Jaroslav Svoboda has accomplished 80 years in good health and activity in the year 2002 and during his life he has taken place unnumbered exhibitions and he has created hundreds of beautiful pictures the majority of which are included in the Czech and foreign private collections. At random I can mention here e.g. U.S.A., Spain, Germany, France, Malorca, Canada and others. I wish you to see J. Svoboda to show me his works in his perfectly organized atelier. Looking at his pictures he seemed to depart from me for a moment and to wander away in those parts of our country which he loves so much and the beauty of which he has forever impressed into his pictures. I will never forget his saying or advice:"Hana, no your picture will be good, if you don´t input a piece of your heart and love in....." And he is right. I am looking at his pictures and I can feel the warmth of his love and humility, which is typical only for sensible and experienced man who Jaroslav Svoboda surely is.
