The Art Scene in India a witnessed a revolution in the early 80’s, thanks to a group of dedicated artists who tried to give new meaning and life to their works. Instead of blindly imitating the masters the new generation went in for experiments which made their works distinct from that of their seniors. The mundane life of our village folk, fishermen and the city dwellers filled the canvas of this groups.
Muraly Nagapuzha is hailed as one of the very few outstanding painters of India among the new generation. His rural back ground and absence of formal training from any schools or painting only helped him to improve his prodigious mettle. This is the base of his highly appraised individualistic style. He is quite well known for portraying his general observations of social life through the brush like an excellent chiarscuro. Colour selection, obsession in combination and treatment accelerates to perfection with a highly balanced sense of symmetry and proportion.
