Gopakumar was born in Ochira, in Kollam district of Kerala, the southern Indian State on 15 th December. After being the recipient of the prestigious Five year National Diploma in Fine Arts (BFA) from The Govt.Ravi Varma College of Fine Arts Mavelikara, Kerala, he was involved in various Arts Exhibitions as a participant and promoter.
He had participated in several solos and group exhibitions as well as art camps all over India. His paintings are accounted in various country\'s treasured collections. To mention a few of his achievements in Bahrain, won the best artist title of prestigious Air India\'s painting competition held in Bahrain and also received Indian Embassy\'s award for Painting.
Lalitha Kala Academy, a Kerala state government organization for promoting fine arts has honored him with the prestigious scholarship.
